For The Love Of Gardening: Organic Horticulture Advice
There is a lot of information you need to learn if you want to achieve your goal of having a thriving garden full of beautiful, colorful, blossoming plants. If you go in without knowing what you're doing, you'll be putting in a lot of hard work for nothing. You'll never experience the fun that comes with gardening. Below you will find some wonderful tips for making horticulture more fun and much less work!

Digging in clay soil with a shovel can be very difficult. The clay isn't easy to work with and will adhere to the shovel, which only makes the problem worse. To make working in clay easier, rub the shovel with floor or car wax and then buff it with a cloth. This will keep the soil from sticking, and prevent rusting of the tool.

Do not plant perennials that are prone to snail infestation. Slugs and snails are voracious eaters that can destroy a plant literally overnight. These garden pests prefer perennials with thin, flat, delicate leaves, particularly if the plant is not yet mature. There are perennials that slugs do not want to eat, the ones that they hate have hairy leaves, or are unappealing to their taste. Wonderful varieties of such perennials include euphorbia, campanula, helleborus, achillea, and heuchera.

Pre-soak your seeds to keep them healthy. Place a couple seeds in each container, then fill it close to full with water. This will give your seeds an excellent start by making sure they have plenty of water, which they need to sprout. This improves the chances of successful plant development.

Both cat grass and wheat grass are good for giving your errant feline pause. Another option is to protect your plants by lacing them with offensive entities, such as peels from citrus fruit or even moth balls from your closet.

Always have a plan for the garden before the beginning of planting it. Use your seed packages to make fun markers that will remind you where each kind of plant is increasing. In addition, your small plants or groups of plants that are limited in number won't become lost if you have a large garden.

With these tips, you're better equipped to grow the most wonderful garden you can think of. In learning how to create your dream garden, you'll also be growing as a person. That's because learning how to nurture your plants will not only help you reach the goal of having a great garden, but it will help you learn to nurture yourself.
