The second season puts more focus on Finn’s awkward wooing of the considerably older Princess Bubblegum and begins to expose the history of the post-post-apocalyptic land of Ooo, specifically with references to the Rainicorn-Pet Wars, The Wonderful Mushroom War, and The Lich. As the series digs deeper into the past of this world, it develops a bittersweet quality. The Partridges were heavily promoted in the real-life music business, and they caught on with several hit singles, including "I Think I Enjoy You," which sold four million copies, as well as albums.
